Silver labels (Silvermat)
Silvermat is a matt silver polypropylene label: a metallic look without the shine of foil, and the water resistance of a plastic film.
Guides & tips
View all →What is Silvermat?
Silvermat is a standard-thickness polypropylene (PP) film with a matt silver face. It gives labels a brushed-metal look. Black text and barcodes read cleanly on it because the surface does not reflect light the way a gloss foil does.
Where silver labels are used
- Rating plates and technical labels on machines, tools and electrical equipment
- Asset and inventory labels for IT and office equipment: see asset labels
- Serial number and barcode labels that should look like part of the product
- Premium packaging, where a metallic finish lifts the look of a plain box or bottle
Blank or printed
- Blank Silvermat rolls for your own printer. Matt silver PP is usually printed by thermal transfer; ask us which ribbon to use. Our thermal transfer labels page explains the method.
- Printed Silvermat labels, printed by UV flexo in several colours, with your logo, text, sequential numbers or barcodes, on a roll with a 25, 40 or 76 mm core.
Silver, metallic or foil?
Silvermat is a silver-coloured film: the whole label is silver. Hot foil is different: it adds a shiny metallic detail to a paper or film label. For foil details on logo labels, see logo stickers and labels.

FAQ
Is Silvermat real metal?
No. It is a polypropylene film with a matt silver face, so it is lighter and more flexible than metal and copes with water.
Can I print on silver labels with a thermal printer?
Silvermat is printed by thermal transfer, with a ribbon. It does not work with direct thermal printing.
Can you add serial numbers or barcodes?
Yes. We can print sequential numbers and barcodes on each label.
