Which barcode labels do you need?
The right label depends on how you print your barcodes:
- Thermal printer: rolls of thermal labels in 40 x 25, 50 x 25 or 50 x 30 mm – the usual sizes for EAN-13 and price labels with barcodes.
- Laser or inkjet printer: A4 labels with 40 or 65 labels per sheet for short runs from Word or Excel.
- Industrial volumes: pre-printed barcodes, sequential numbers or QR codes on rolls – see custom roll label printing.
Readability: size, contrast and quiet zone
A barcode scans reliably when it is printed black on matt white with a clear quiet zone on both sides. Allow at least 30 mm width for an EAN-13; a QR code stays readable from about 15 mm square. The top-coated thermal paper on our rolls gives a sharp black and resists scratches that cause misreads.
Warehousing, stock control and e-commerce
Barcode labels are used for stock-taking, warehouse management, FNSKU labels for Amazon and batch tracking. For labels that must last (asset tags, outdoor use, chemicals) choose thermal transfer on blank roll labels or waterproof thermal labels.

FAQ
What label size do I need for an EAN-13 barcode?
40 x 25 mm and 50 x 25 mm are the most common. Leave a white quiet zone on both sides of the code for reliable scanning.
Can I print barcodes on a laser printer?
Yes, on A4 sheets (for example 40 or 65 labels per sheet). For regular volumes a thermal printer with rolls is faster.
Do you supply labels with barcodes already printed?
Yes, in industrial runs: barcodes, QR codes or sequential numbering printed on rolls. Request a quote with the quantity and size.
Are direct thermal labels suitable for long-term asset tracking?
For several years or harsh conditions, thermal transfer on coated paper or polypropylene lasts longer than direct thermal.
