Direct thermal labels print without ribbon or ink: the print head heats the paper, which turns black where text, barcodes or logos are needed. It is the simplest way to print shipping labels, product barcodes, price and stock labels on demand.
Our rolls use top-coated thermal paper. The protective top coat makes the print more resistant to scratches, moisture and smudging than basic thermal paper. For long-life or outdoor labelling, choose thermal transfer labels or waterproof thermal labels instead.
Sizes and labels per roll
- Small sizes (30 x 20 to 50 x 30 mm): EAN barcodes, prices, stock control – up to 2,000 labels per roll.
- Medium sizes (55 x 25 to 80 x 80 mm): product and batch labels, order picking.
- Logistics sizes (90 x 30 to 100 x 150 mm): shipping labels for carriers, including 100 x 150 mm. Note that a true 4 x 6 inch label is 101.6 x 152.4 mm; most 4x6 / 6x4 thermal printers take 100 x 150 mm rolls without any problem.

Printer compatibility
Every roll has a 40 mm core and is wound outside. They fit direct thermal desktop printers that take a 40 mm core, including Zebra desktop models. Just check that your printer's print width covers the label width. Our thermal label printer guide helps you choose a printer.

FAQ
What is the difference between direct thermal and thermal transfer?
Direct thermal prints without a ribbon on heat-sensitive paper – fast and low-cost for short to medium-life labels. Thermal transfer uses a ribbon on a non-sensitive material and lasts much longer.
Are your thermal labels compatible with Zebra printers?
Yes, with Zebra desktop printers and other direct thermal printers that take a 40 mm core. Check the maximum print width of your model.
Is 100 x 150 mm the same as 4x6 labels?
Not exactly: 4 x 6 inches is 101.6 x 152.4 mm. In practice 100 x 150 mm rolls work in 4x6 thermal printers and in 6x4 courier templates, with a slightly smaller printable area.
